Sunflower Fields Cemetery, located on 18th Avenue just outside the city's limits, is open for burials say Lemoore Cemetery District officials.

Lemoore Cemetery District has completely opened the Sunflower Fields Cemetery, which is ready and open for burials, say officials with the local district.

Sunflower Fields, located at 9660 18th Avenue, is outside the City of Lemoore. The district's office moved to the new site in late 2018, and according to Cemetery District Manager Rich Rhoads, the cemetery is open for burials.

Rhoads indicated that the center section of the cemetery would be the initial area ready for burials.  This area has a capacity of 500 full graves along with over 100 in-ground cremation graves.

According to Rhoads, there haven’t been any burials yet and that there is still room at the existing Lemoore Cemetery located within the city limits. “We just opened April 1,” he said. “We moved out here at the end of the year.”

Sunflower will also have 145 above ground niches for cremations.  Preneed purchases are currently available at Grangeville, Lemoore and Sunflower Fields.  District officials recommend scheduling appointments.
