Kings Lions Club earns local assemblyman's nod as district's top nonprofit organization
Several members of the Kings Lions Club will travel to Sacramento on June 5 to join with one hundred other nonprofit organizations throughout California to be honored by their state senators and assembly members during a celebration luncheon as part of California Nonprofits Day on June 5.
“Nonprofits are often hidden in plain sight,” explains Jan Masaoka, CEO of the California Association of Nonprofits (CalNonprofits). “California Nonprofits Day is an opportunity for our elected officials to celebrate the good work they see nonprofits doing in their districts, and for everyone to appreciate the collective impact of nonprofits in our communities.”
The Kings Lions Club is an affiliate of Lions Clubs International, the largest service organization in the world and an association of over 1.4 million members spanning the entire globe.
Locally, the Kings Lions Club proudly serves its local communities in Kings County. The Kings Lions Club was chartered on October 15, 2013, and is made up of over 40 dedicated members from the Lemoore and Hanford area. The Kings Lions Club is a very active and engaged organization that strives to give back in many different ways, helping youth and senior groups, as well as providing countless man hours to help improve their community.
The Kings Lions Club is known for its annual Kings Brewfest Fundraiser. This year’s event is scheduled for June 15 at the Kings Lions Complex in Lemoore. One hundred percent of every penny raised by the Kings Lions is donated back into the local communities.
Some of their ongoing projects: Stuff the Bus School Supply Collection Project, Highway Clean up, Movies with Santa/Can Food Drive, West Hills Middle College High School Scholarships, Stratford Easter Egg Hunt, Lions Student Speakers Scholarship, and support for the Kings Lions Complex.
The Kings Lions also supports many local youth and senior citizen programs and contributed to the recent California wildfire disaster support. They also provide eye exams, glasses, and eye surgeries and support the Lemoore High School Speech Club and local youth sports programs.
Kings Lions reported that over $61,000 in total contributions were donated right back into the community and various Lions projects last year.
As Helen Keller once said, “Alone, we can do so little, together we can do so much.” The Kings Lions Club adheres to this motto.
The Kings Lions are always looking for members. Anyone interested in learning more about what the Kings Lions are doing, follow them on their Facebook page: FB KINGS LIONS CLUB
According to “Causes Count,” a 2016 report commissioned by CalNonprofits, the nonprofit sector is the 4th largest industry in the state, employing nearly one million people. Each year, California nonprofits generate over $200 billion in revenue and bring in $40 billion in revenue from outside of California. The unpaid labor contributed by volunteers at nonprofits is equivalent to 450,000 full-time jobs every year.
