Lemoore’s 132-pound wrestling sensation Wayne Joint took his considerable talents to the semifinals, coming up just short of the finals in a tournament many consider to be one of the most demanding in the country. As it is, Joint managed to take fourth in the prestigious competition.

Joint was on a roll for most of the tournament before running into Windsor, Colorado’s Dominick Serrano, in the semifinals who upset the talented Tiger. Serrano went on to win the Buchanan championship, beating New Jersey’s Dylan Cedeno of Bergen Catholic High School in the finals.

Joint got to the semis by defeating Ohio wrestler Scott Richter in the quarterfinals in a 6-1 decision. It was in the round of 16 that Joint edged Buchanan standout Michael Gioffre 4-3 to continue his winning streak.

Fellow Tiger Will Kloster won in the final 16, defeating Georgia’s Malachi Wiley 7-3 before losing to Ohio’s Paddy Gallagher of St. Edward’s High School in the quarters.

Lemoore is scheduled to take on Redwood High School on Jan. 8 in Visalia as the Tigers gun for yet another West Yosemite League championship. They aren’t finished with tournament action as Lemoore’s wrestlers hit the road for the Fountain Valley 5 Counties tournament.
