West Hills College Firebaugh North District Center plans Feb. 7 groundbreaking

The West Hills College District will break ground Feb. 7 in Firebaugh for its new North District Center building. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at 1511 9th Street in the local community.

“This project is far more than a building,” said Dr. Stuart Van Horn, Chancellor of the West Hills Community College District. “The modernized NDC is expected to call renewed attention to and expand the role and importance of education for the region, and its future, and serve as a catalyst for enhanced optimism in the area.

“It will grow the capacity of the district to offer an expanded, enriched curriculum supportive of specialized programs and general education. NDC is more than the sum of its parts. It is a contributor, catalyst, and useful lever for positive changes in the lives of students and the overall economic and civic well-being of the region.”

The state-of-the-art center will feature 41,623 square feet of classroom, lab, library, and office space as well as a new Fresno County library and field office for the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The facility will replace the current 11,764 square foot center.

The community is welcome and encouraged to attend the event. RSVP for the event at http://tiny.cc/NDCground
