Kings Human Services shares Dept. of Ag online number to locate local 'Meals 4 Kids'

The Kings County Human Services Agency is sharing an online tool and telephone number from the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) branch of the United States Department of Agriculture designed to help families locate sites where they can get free means and snacks for their children.

Utilizing the “Meals 4 Kids” mapping tool, families can locate, within a 0-15-mile radius, the sites offering meals for kids and teens in their area.  To access the site, please go to https://www.fns.usda.gov/meals4kids

Upon accessing the online map, one can enter a city, zip code to provide a list of locations that provide meals.  To obtain more specific information about any of the sites, just click on the specific location of interest, which will then provide the user with the site name, address, start date, end date, days, and hours of operation, and which meals they provide.

In addition to the mapping tool, FNS provides a texting service that allows parents or students to find sites near them by text.  To utilize this service, please text ‘FOOD’ to 877-877 or 'COMIDA' to 877-877 for information in Spanish.
