Kings County health officials give the go-ahead to COVID-19 vaccine for 12 years and above

This week’s decision comes after the US Food and Drug Administration expanded emergency use authorization for the Pfizer vaccine on Monday, May 10, 2021, followed by Centers for Disease Control (CDC) approval on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.
In addition to allowing individuals to schedule an appointment for a vaccine directly, the MyTurn website provides links to vaccine appointment systems used by local pharmacies.
“The currently available COVID-19 vaccines have shown to be safe and effective at preventing severe illness from COVID-19 and have played a significant role in helping lower infection rates as we work to get things back to normal,” said Darcy Pickens, Assistant Director of the Kings County Department of Public Health (KCDPH).
“We continue to encourage Kings County residents to visit MyTurn, their local pharmacy, or their doctor’s office to get vaccinated. Not only does it offer a measure of protection for you and your loved ones, it moves us forward on the path to reopening our county.”
The KCDPH announced that it would hold its next Pfizer vaccine clinic on Friday, May 14 and that Kings County residents will be able to register their children for a vaccine appointment starting Thursday, May 13.
A parent or legal guardian must accompany individuals under age 18, provide appropriate verification and complete the necessary documentation for the vaccine to be administered to a minor.
