Kings County Board authorizes $6 million in small business grants

The Kings County Board of Supervisors recently authorized an additional $6 million in small business grant funding to be managed by the Kings County Economic Development Corp. and Job Training Office (EDC – JTO).

Applications for the funding will be distributed sometime in mid to late August, giving ample time for each business to prepare information and documents for submission. To qualify, a local business must:

  • Maintain a current and valid business license (if applicable)
  • Be a business that has been in operation prior to March 15, 2020, in Kings County
  • Have 200 or fewer full-time employees and, 
  • Must be able to demonstrate financial hardship or decrease in year over hear gross receipts attributed to COVID-19. 

Ineligible businesses include businesses with over 100 employees, non-profits, and businesses in the cannabis industry.
