The City of Lemoore announced this week that first-term councilmember, James Chaney, has resigned as the council’s representative for District B. Councilmembers are required to reside within that district’s defined area.
According to a release from the City of Lemoore, Chaney has relocated outside of the district. City officials will be releasing more information on the process of filling the vacancy in District B.
Chaney began his candidacy for the District B seat in August of 2020 and won the open seat over a pair of candidates in that year’s election in District B.
Cheney was also a longtime employee of the Lemoore Police Department. In past years, when a vacancy has occurred, city officials invite interested candidates to a council meeting to plead their case for earning an appointment to the Lemoore City Council.
