Lemoore’s Middle College High Schools Academic Decathlon team recently returned from Frisco, Texas, where they placed fourth in Division IV out of 28 schools. They were 12th overall out of the 56 schools that participated April 27-29.

The local Middle College team was invited to the U.S. Academic Nationals (the local school has been to the nationals before). In 2018 the Lemoore team took first place in Div. IV and followed that victory in 2019 with another first-place Division IV outing in Bloomington, Minnesota.

The nine-student AD team, led by coaches Allen Tong and Janet and John Bengtson, earned a Nationals invite with its performance at the State Championships in March, placing 11th out of 59 teams.

Lemoore Middle College High School has only 232 students but has won the Kings County Academic Decathlon numerous times. A pair of local students performed well at the Nationals. Richard Harmiel received the Top Varsity Student Award in Division IV, while Clarissa Morgan received a Silver Medal in Music.

Congrats to Richard Harmiel for earning a Top Varsity Student Award and Clarissa Morgan who earned a Silver Medal in Music.
