Lemoore Middle College Physical Education Teacher Franky Ramos took a gaggle of local girls to the NorCal State Premier Four Cup in Livermoore recently where the talented local team took top honors in the prestigious soccer tournament. Assistant coach John Powers assisted Ramos. The girls’ team competed in the Under 11 tournament. The local team is only the second in Kings County history to win a Premier Cup.

The title game occurred on Sunday, Feb. 5. Ramos told The Leader that seven team members came from Lemoore, while six young ladies are from Hanford.

Team members include Angelique Castillo, Aubrey Baker, Camille Hilvers, Eastyn Oliveira, Emersyn Gausepohl, Hallie Tompkins, Juliana Raiskup, Kesler Powers, Leah Chavez, Londyn Gonzales, Makynna Thomas, Riley Bush, and Talon Ramos.

According to Ramos, the team’s cup run started in August and ended last Sunday when the team won the NorCal Cup. It was only the second premier cup won in Kings County history.

“I believe this is a special group of young ladies and families,” said Ramos. “We are a small club from a small county going up against some of the biggest clubs in the Bay Area. I could coach for another 100 years and not get a group of players and families that are this close and all share the same values.”

Ramos said that in the three years, this team has traveled up all over the state and has won five USA-sanctioned tournaments and now can add a huge trophy to the case in the NorCal State Cup Premier 4 win, defeating Pacifica United in the final match, 2-0.
