Ernesto “Ernie” Vigil, 84, of Lemoore was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27th surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Maria, his son-in-law Jack Spain, and a grandson Jack L. Spain III. Born in Lemoore on July 23, 1929 on what is now called “The Jack Stone Ranch,” William Alfred Oliveira was the fifth child of nine of Azorean immigrants, A. P. Oliveira and Virginia Simoes. He grew up with his first language, Portuguese. He learned English with his siblings Tony, Mary, John, Virginia, Velma, Lena, Nancy, and Alvin, while attending the local Lemoore schools. Friends and family paid their final respects to Bishop Glen E. Neal on Saturday (June 18) as they nearly filled the West Hills College Golden Eagle Arena to celebrate his life.
