The annual Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner was all smiles and full bellies as volunteers converged on the Lemoore Senior Citizens Center to feed nearly 400 persons who visited the Senior Center on Thursday. Volunteers also prepared nearly 800 takeout dinners and home-delivered another 400 more.
The Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner celebrated its 14th
consecutive year and depends on volunteers and donations to feed all those people. The Lemoore Lions as well as student-led Lemoore High School Leos also participated as volunteers.
“It’s certainly not difficult to get volunteers,” said Community Dinner President Sharon Kendall-Farrar. “We probably had 100 volunteers today. I think it went really well. Every year it gets a little bit better, a little bit smoother. We’ve learned a little bit more, we become a little more efficient as a team of people.”
