Tigers to take on Central Valley Christian Friday in Div. II championship game after big win over Centennial

It may have been one of Lemoore High School’s most thrilling games. On a somewhat rainy evening, the Tigers fought off the weather conditions and then a very solid Centennial team, to advance to the Division II finals against top-ranked Central Valley Christian.

The title game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Central Valley Christian.

The Tigers got to the Division II final thanks to an exciting 20-14 win over visiting Centennial Friday night in a rain-soaked Tiger Stadium.

Lemoore improved to 10-3 overall as they prepare this coming week for the Division II championship game on Friday. The Cavaliers are 12-1 on the year, their only loss, a 48-14 setback against Clovis North High School.

Centennial scored first in the exciting game despite the Tigers' ability to move down the field in the opening quarter. Centennial scored first on a deep pass, but the Tigers returned the favor, scoring a touchdown. The extra point was blocked as Centennial led 7-6 early.

With just seconds left until halftime, the Tigers scored but missed the extra point (blocked) and settled for a 12-7 lead.

Centennial took the second half’s opening drive and scored to make it a 14-12 lead.
Lemoore intercepted near the goal line, ran it back deep into Centennial territory, scored a touchdown, and then attempted a two-point conversion to take the lead for good.

The Tiger defense managed to secure the game in the final minutes.
