The Tigers’ diamond exploits continue as Lemoore remains one of the hottest teams in the Valley after a pair of wins this past week that improved Lemoore’s record to 9-1 as it prepares for the opening of the West Yosemite League play Wednesday in Lemoore.

The Tigers beat Caruthers Friday night 12-1 and on Thursday defeated Bakersfield Christian 2-1 on the strength of a solid performance from Austin Murietta who pitched the final three innings, holding Bakersfield to just one hit.

Lemoore got RBI singles from Matt Cole and Robbie Senior as the Tigers scored a run in the fourth to tie Bakersfield 1-1 before a fifth inning run gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead, which they held on to thanks to the pitching prowess of Murietta.

Bakersfield Christian went into Thursday’s game ranked No. 13 in the Central Section.  “It was a really big win for us on the road,” said Tiger Coach Frank Ramos whose team now takes a 9-1 mark into a tough WYL.

Jayden Hunt started for the Tigers, going three innings, allowing just two hits and one run. Jake Hansen relieved, lasting an inning before giving way to Murietta who shut down Bakersfield the rest of the way. Murietta struck out two and allowed just one hit in three innings.
