The Lemoore Future Farmers of America had a busy Saturday (Oct. 29). Earlier that day the local contingent helped put new landscaping at Lemoore City Hall, the culmination of at least a couple of years of planning. What do a pair of likeable librarians, retired after years of “shushing” wayward students, do for fun? Well, frankly they do what every other self-respecting librarian would do: They catch the next available plane for Kenya, the domain of elephants, lions, and at least one Norwegian ambassador, who at one point in the disco-dominated era ‘70s, just so happened to have been a foreign exchange student at Lemoore High School.

The beautiful Sarah Mooney Museum has housed and shared the early history of our area for the past 42 years. In 1973, Sarah’s oldest granddaughter and her husband, Marie and Buzz Blakely, donated the property at 542 West D Street to the Lemoore Chamber of Commerce to be kept as a Museum in honor of Sarah Mooney. With a possible life in the balance, Lemoore’s vaunted Volunteer Fire Department responded within minutes to an apartment fire at the Lemoore Arms Apartments, across from the Best Buy Market.
