Don’t blame a bunch of football players for moving a bit slowly at the 48th Annual Tulare-Kings All Star Football Game on Saturday, June 27 at Golden West High School’s Groppetti Stadium in Visalia. After all, the Lemoore Kiwanis Club, which co-sponsors the game with the Visalia Optimists, filled them all with hamburgers and hot dogs at the annual kick-off hamburger feed Wednesday, June 10 at the West Hills College Lemoore Golden Eagle Arena.
Wednesday night’s gathering in Lemoore was the opening salvo in what promises to be an exciting game later this month between two talented teams. The West roster includes seven Tigers who played on last season’s West Yosemite League championship squad, a team that went 10-0 during the league campaign, won its playoff opener then lost to Dinuba in the second round of the playoffs to finish 11-1.
Joining the west squad from Lemoore are quarterback Cort Groathouse, Tim Johnson, Zack Frazier, Matt Cole, Isaiah Rodriguez, Karson Overmyer and Jaden Hunt.
Lemoore Coach Shannon Pulliam was selected as the West head coach.
The annual game is sponsored by the Bank of the Sierra, Artic Silver, Jones Collision Center, Caruther’s Raisins, GV Burrows Inc. and West Hills College, Lemoore.
