The Tachi Hotel and Casino has always been a big support of Relay for Life, which is an effort of the American Cancer Society to raise much-needed money for cancer research. The Tachi have always been a big part of the annual Relays in Hanford and Lemoore. On Sunday, a Relay for Life Tachi Team sponsored a special Food Truck promotion to raise money. The event was held in the Lemoore City Park from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“What we’re doing here is raising funds for research, cancer patient programs, lodging programs, driving cancer patients to and from their treatments,” said Maira Aguilar, a representative of the American Cancer Society, who helped organize the Food Truck event.
“All the money here is going to get donated back to the American Cancer Society. The community of Lemoore is holding this event in conjunction with the Tachi teams to get funds to donate back to the American Cancer Society.”
Aguilar said a number of local food trucks, serving everything from funnel cakes to corn-on-the-cob, were on hand in the Lemoore City Park. Twenty percent of the proceeds from sales will go to the American Cancer Society.
