Tigers win pair of water polo matches to improve to 6-4 in WYL

Lemoore’s varsity boys’ water polo team came up with a pair of big wins last week, beating Mt. Whitney in a 17-15 thriller on Wednesday and then pounding out a 12-11 victory over El Diamante Thursday night.

Lemoore improved to 13-4 overall and 6-4 in West Yosemite League play. Lemoore has regular season games left on Tuesday against Golden West in the Lemoore pool at 5:30 p.m. and the league finale at Hanford on Thursday, Nov. 5.

Redwood and Golden West currently lead the WYL with only one loss apiece. Lemoore is in third place at 6-4.

Against the Miners on Thursday, Ethan Barnhart led the way with four goals while Calvin Rhoads chipped in with three. Jake Hansen had two goals for the winning Tigers.

Against Mt. Whitney earlier in the week Rhoads and Spencer Stinger each scored three times while Cameron Olson, Peter Castro, and Max Hoslett each had two goals.
