Classes still available and West Hills College Lemoore, other campuses

From West Hills College

The spring semester at West Hills College is rapidly approaching and, as the beginning of the semester on Jan. 11 draws near, students are being urged to enroll now before popular classes are filled.

New and returning students at West Hills College Lemoore, West Hills College Coalinga and North District Center, Firebaugh can register online through an easy process and support is available for anyone who needs assistance with registration. Help is also available for students interested in learning more about financial aid that might be available to them.

“Applying for admissions is quick and easy,” said Rita Grogan, West Hills Community College District Associate Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management and Institutional Effectiveness. “Once admitted, counselors and advisors help them determine the best course fit. Financial aid is available year round for all eligible students and if they are unsure of their eligibility, they can talk to any of our friendly financial aid staff at both colleges and they will walk them through the application process.”

Hundreds of classes are still open for students to take on campus or online and there are also several options for students looking for a more flexible semester or a different type of learning experience.

For the first time, students at WHCC can register for an intensive Career Technical Education Academy focused on computer programming. The year-long course begins this semester and prepares students to become job ready for a position in the computer programming field. Students will learn about HTML, Java, JavaScript, and CSS and also be placed in an internship at the end of the academy.

West Hills also offers many courses that are divided into 9-week “mini-mesters” that allow students to learn the same material as they would in a longer course in half a semester. Night classes are also available and hundreds of online courses, making it easy to learn anywhere there’s an internet connection.
