Rudy Salas continues to be a good choice for California State Assembly

There are many good, decent, hardworking men and women in the world of politics. Sometimes though they’re hard to find because they spend too much time raking in cash and making promises they can’t keep.

One such gentleman who is easy to find – because he’s here so often – is Assemblyman Rudy Salas who represents Lemoore and the rest of the 32nd Assembly District. In the last four years Mr. Salas has been one of the most visible politicians in Kings County. One wonders how he has any spare time to spend on legislation, he’s here so often.

But he indeed finds the time, and is one of the most productive members of the State Legislature.

The two-term assemblyman is downright ingratiating. He’s certainly a Democrat, but there are plenty of Republicans who like him too – and voted for him, such is his cross-over appeal. Everybody respects someone who works hard and delivers for his constituents, regardless of party affiliation.

When he’s not “stuffing the bus” with school supplies for local students, Salas is hosting free senior scam seminars in Kettleman City, Corcoran, Wasco and many places within his expansive district, which stretches from Kings County to the southern border of Kern County. He supports veterans’ events; he visits West Hills College to support clean air by offering emissions testing. The list is long.

The guy is everywhere. I caught him mowing my back yard the other day and had to send him back to Sacramento.

But the fact of the matter is, he’s also getting the job done in Sacramento. He’s currently introducing or supporting bills to bring clean energy and jobs to the Valley, and he’s always working to ensure that our communities get their fair share of water from the California Aqueduct.

He promotes more surface storage development in California to project against future droughts, and he’s hoping to streamline statewide and valley-wide transportation projects.

The list goes on.

While we certainly don’t think Mr. Salas is any danger this year of failing in this election, it feels good to endorse a politician who works hard and who expresses a sincere devotion toward his constituents, and that is a rare commodity in this increasingly insincere political climate.

Another vote for Rudy Salas is a vote spent well.
