Assemblyman joins with Lemoore councilman to help distribute much-needed coats

Salas partnered with the Professional Latin American Association to facilitate a donation from Southern California Gas to purchase 450 coats to distribute to residents throughout the District.
“When we come together as a community we can make a difference,” said Salas. “Because of our collaboration, hundreds of children will have coats this winter. This could not have happened without all the partners who volunteered their time, resources and energy to help their neighbors.”
Coats were distributed at the Dolores Huerta Head Start Center in Corcoran where Salas presented distributed coats alongside Jeff Garner, Executive Director, Kings Community Action Organization (KCAO) and Corcoran City Councilmember Ray Lerma.
KCAO oversees the Head Start Program for Kings County. Head Start is a federally funded preschool program that promotes school readiness for children from low-income families. KCAO also is a Resource and Referral agency (R&R), funded by the California Department of Education, Early Education and Support Division.
Coats were also distributed at Lemoore Christian Aid and Lemoore Police Department. Lemoore Mayor Pro Tem Neal was in attendance to distribute coats at the Lyndon B. Johnson Head Start Center
