Tigers take two in convincing fashion in Friday's Edison Classic Softball Tourney

Lemoore’s varsity softball team won their opening two games Friday in the Edison Classic Softball Tournament. The Tigers had a scheduled game with Caruthers High today (March 4) at 11:15 a.m. following by a 2:45 p.m. game against Liberty.

On Friday, Lemoore scored 17 runs in the games against San Joaquin Memorial and Kerman High School, while allowing just two runs in both games. The Tigers crushed Memorial 8-1 and returned in the afternoon to defeat Kerman 9-1.

In the opener, Lemoore pitcher Nikki Antuna went four innings and held Memorial hitless. Ashtyn Lucas pitched the final inning as the two pitchers combined for a no-hitter.

Megan Ambriz had two RBI in the game. She went two for three to lead the Tigers, who scattered eight hits on the day. Katelyn Cole also went two for three and an RBI as the Tigers completely dominated the game.

In the later game against Kerman, the Lemoore bats came alive as Tiger hitters scattered 17 hits on the day. Lemoore was led by Sierra Phelps, who was four for four on the day with a pair of runs scored and two RBI.

Antuna started the second game and Lucas threw the final two innings as Lemoore crushed Kerman 9-1.
