The Lemoore Community Services Department on Friday got a nice check from Leprino Foods to help with a pair of its vital recreation programs.

Leprino Foods handed over a check to the department for $12,124 to help the city set up a three-on-three basketball program and provide much-needed fencing around the recreation facility’s boxing ring.

Several Leprino employees joined Lemoore Recreation Supervisor Sheila Taylor and City Manager Nathan Olson at the Cinnamon Municipal Complex to present them with the check.

According to Taylor, about half the money will be used to buy outdoor basketball hoops in anticipation of starting a three-on-three program in Lemoore. It’s hoped the city will host tournaments in the future.

Leprino Human Resource Manager Ana Nicks presented the check to Taylor. “We’ve been looking for things to do locally,” she said. The money is from the Leprino Foundation, based in Denver, Colorado.
