The Kings County Library in Lemoore received an early Christmas present in the form of a $20,000 donation from Lemoore’s Leprino Foods, and Kings County Library patrons plan to put it go good use.

Several Leprino representatives were on hand Monday morning in the Lemoore Branch as a replica of the $20,000 check was handed over to library officials, surrounded by a gaggle of youngsters who seemed just as excited as the adults in the room accepting Leprino’s largess.

Monday's gift is one of several such donations from the Leprino Foods Company Foundation.  In September, the Leprino Foundation awarded a $12,124 check to the Lemoore Community Services Department to help fund a pair of its vital recreation programs. Leprino also donated to Lemoore’s God’s Breadbox.

Leprino’s Human Resources Manager Ana Nicks has been responsible for delivering the company’s good news to local organizations.  “The library had been brought up,” she said, “but there had been some changes, and we held off until this year.”

She added that the Kings County Library system, including Lemoore, there was an insufficient amount of technology for education. “We thought the ideal thing to do was provide technology for the children, and provide laptops for kids who may not have a laptop at home as well as resources for those in the community who don’t have access to it.”

Nicks said that The Leprino Foundation was started a few years ago in to support the local communities in which the company operates. Lemoore has two major facilities in Lemoore: Leprino East and West.

There will be more from the Foundation in the future, said Nicks. “We are looking forward to continuing helping them in the future. One of the pillars of our foundation is centered around education.”

Leprino recently held golf tournaments to raise funds for Amanda’s Home, a local women’s and children’s transitional home.
