The Lemoore NJROTC unit, over 230 strong, has been keeping busy these last few weeks. On Saturday (Nov. 18), a large contingent of cadets spent a pleasant day at Reedley High School where all they did was clean up on first-place hardware at the annual Area NJROTC Drill Meet.

Saturday’s event follows impressive performances by the unit’s drill team at a nationally televised boxing match last week and a Veterans Day event at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino.

Overall, Lemoore cleaned up, taking first-place honors in at least ten separate events Saturday, a performance that earned its cadets a spot in the Area-11 Championship Drill Meet, scheduled in Santa Ana, California in February.

The Tiger ROTC corps also took the second-place trophy in the academic portion of Saturday’s drill meet.

Lemoore’s cadets took top honors in the following events: Uniform Personnel Inspection, Armed Basic Drill Event, and Unarmed Basic Drill Event. Students also won the Armed Exhibition Drill Event, Unarmed Exhibition Drill Event, Competition Color Guard, Male and Female Curl Ups, Male and Female Sit Ups, 8X16 Shuttle Run, and the 4X220 Relay Run.

Lemoore will host its town drill meet on Saturday, Dec. 9. NJROTC units from all over Southern California will attend.
