Keynote speaker and former Lemoore high track star Jerome Avery spoke about his experience of working with the Paralympics and winning a gold medal at the 2016 Paralympic Games.

At Lemoore High School he was the track team’s MVP all four years and was ranked fifth in California for the 100 meters. He has been a guide runner for the U.S. Paralympics since 2004.

In 2016, during the Rio de Janeiro Paralympics, Avery guided sprinter David Brown to a gold medal in the 100 meters. Avery and Brown set Paralympics record with their time of 10.99 seconds. The world record was 10.34, also set by Brown.
