The Lemoore Chamber of Commerce put on yet another excellent show April 13-14 with the 18th Annual Central Valley Pizza Festival. Lemoore's Downtown Park was jammed Friday night as the event opened with music and a beer garden.
The fun continued Saturday as hundreds of pizza enthusiasts converged on the park for a day of pizza making and pizza eating. The highlight was Saturday's annual pizza-making contest pitting various organizations against each other with one goal in mind: to make Kings County's largest and most creative pizza slice.
Attendees also enjoyed a carnival, plenty of food booths, and a day-long festival of music and entertainment.
The winner of this year's pizza contest was Olam, a local agricultural food processor. Second place went to a Leprino Food's East Plant Team while Leprino's West Plant Team captured third place.
The pizza-making teams had about 20 minutes, using only a handful of dough and various toppings to create their artistic versions of a pizza. However, attendees were warned not to eat the final product.
The big winners in the pizza-eating was a pair of pizza enthusiasts from the Empire Car Club. Tuff Enough Car Club took second while Pepperoni Homies too third.
