Golden Eagles hoop squads struggling early as conference play looms in January

West Hills Lemoore basketball teams continue to struggle this season, as both the men and women continue to rack up losses, including the Lady Golden Eagles who struggled in their tournament this past weekend (Dec. 14-16) held in the Golden Eagle Arena.

The men’s team is 0-8 as it prepares to play this week in the Compton Tartar Classic where it was slated to open with Compton College on Monday (Dec. 17). The men also are scheduled to play Glendale at 2 p.m. on Tuesday and follow up Wednesday against West LA College.

The Lady Golden Eagles, at 1-7, and are also struggling. They opened their tournament on Friday with a disappointing 86-60 loss to Sacramento City College before losing on Saturday to Rio Hondo 70-51. WHC was slated to pay Cuesta Sunday afternoon.

The women travel to Fullerton to meet Mt. San Antonio College in the opener of the Fullerton Tournament on Dec. 27. Coach Andrea Picchi’s squad is scheduled to begin Central Valley Conference play on January 3 when it hosts Bakersfield College in a 4 p.m. game.
