Tiger wrestlers win another West Yosemite League title; defeat impressive Hanford team

Another year and another West Yosemite League championship for the Lemoore varsity boys’ wrestling team as it crushed Hanford on the Bullpups’ home mats 42-24 Wednesday night. Both Hanford and Lemoore were undefeated before the WYL finale.

The Lemoore junior varsity edged Hanford 40-39 while the varsity girls crushed the Bullpups 30-6.

The Lemoore varsity begins its trek to the California State Wrestling Tournament next Friday and Saturday when the Tigers travel to Clovis North High School to take on the best in the Divisionals.

The girls will remain home for the Area competition and will begin their search for a championship on Thursday in the Event Center.

Against Hanford, varsity wrestlers won nine of 14 matches including yet another big win from Cal Poly-bound athlete Will Kloster who pinned his Bullpups’ opponent.

Other winners included Dylan McDonald in a decision. Xander Romero came up with a pin as did Jesse Gayton. Wayne Joint won his bout in a decision as did Alex Yanez. Koy Davis emerged with a pin while Hector Lopez Duran won by a decision.
