Lady Tigers earn spots as West Yosemite League all-league selections. LHS pair earn first-team soccer
Lemoore’s Kalijah Sanders and Mia Sanchez, both seniors, were named to the WYL First Team in soccer. The Tigers were 0-9-1 in the WYL, and 4-13-2 overall as Redwood captured this year’s league championship.
There were two MVPs in the WYL soccer season as Jill Nelsen, a senior from Redwood High School and Hanford senior Sheyenne Hodge shared the award this year. The league’s top offensive player was Redwood’s Evan House, while Hanford sophomore Hailey Langley and Mt. Whitney senior Taylor Bocanegra shared the league’s best defensive player of the year.
All earned spots on the league’s first team. Others on the WYL’s top squad include Redwood’s Kelsey Konishi and Payton Basso and Golden West’s Izabel Pelayo and Kaitlyn Tilley.
A pair of Tigers also earned spots on the second team. Junior Reilly Nava and freshman Rhilynn Kilner made the team. Honorable mention status went to Abigal Zepeda, freshman, and Ashley Eller, a sophomore for the Tigers.
In girls’ basketball, second team honors went to Lemoore High’s Janay Avalos and Amaya Sanchez. Hanford’s Sapphire Jones was the league’s MVP, leading her Bullpups to a perfect season at 10-0. Lemoore High School was 2-7 in the WYL and 10-14 overall.
