Tigers tennis team stumbles against Mt. Whitney in quest for league championship; Hanford looms Thursday

Lemoore High School’s varsity boys’ tennis team fell to 2-2 after a disappointing loss to visiting Mt. Whitney Tuesday afternoon. The Tigers won just one match; a singles win by from Mathew Ramirez as they fell to 2-2 in the West Yosemite League with a critical contest at Hanford coming up Thursday, March 21.

Lemoore fell to 5-4 overall. The Pioneers are leading the league with a perfect overall record of 12-0 and are 5-0 in the league.

The Tigers No. 1 singles player, Luis Renteria, lost his singles match 6-2, 6-3 and it didn’t get much better for the Tigers as Pioneer players nearly swept the Tigers.

In doubles action, Pete Hawken and Ramirez nearly pulled off an upset but ended up on the short end of a 9-7 match. Nick Ibarra and Chase Garcia also came close but lost in doubles 8-5.
