It was a good weekend for the Lemoore varsity boys’ baseball team, and a disappointing one for the Tigers’ softball team, which dropped its West Yosemite League opener at home against a visiting Redwood squad.

Lemoore will attempt to continue its winning ways as it takes its 6-6 record into its WYL opener on Wednesday at Redwood High School. As the Tigers continue their back-to-back matchups with league foes, the Rangers will visit Lemoore on Friday, March 29 for a 4:15 p.m. game.

On Friday the Tigers needed ten innings to beat visiting Kerman on Military Appreciation Night in Lemoore.  Tied 5-5 going into the bottom of the 10th inning, Lemoore scored the go-ahead run to claim victory 6-5.

Logan Jones had a big day at the plate, collecting three hits in four tries and scoring a run. Payton Dominguez led the Tigers with two hits and five trips to the plate. His Two RBI proved a key to the Lemoore win. Justin Holaday also had an RBI as he came through with a key hit and scored a run.

In all Lemoore collected ten hits on the day while a Tiger pitching corps held Kerman to just seven total.

On Saturday, again playing at home, Lemoore held on for a 2-1 victory over visiting Kingsburg to improve its record to 6-6 on the year.

Lemoore’s promising softball team, on Friday afternoon, fell to 2-5-1 overall and 0-1 in the WYL with its 11-0 loss to the Rangers, a game in which Redwood garnered 13 hits and the Tigers were held hitless. The Rangers are 1-0 in league play and 8-7 overall.

The Lady Tigers will seek some redemption on Wednesday when they host visiting WYL foe El Diamante in a 4:30 game.

The Tiger softies were held hitless by Ranger Abigail Hillan who went the distance allowing no hits, walking two and striking out four Tigers. Tiger pitchers Leslie Segura suffered the loss. She allowed eight hits, eight runs, a walk, and no strikeouts. Tomi Ford also pitched for Lemoore. She allowed three runs on four hits.
