Kings Lions Club joins Assemblyman Salas in Sacramento to receive non-profit award

The Kings Lions Club earned a spot as one of 100 California Nonprofit of the Year. Assemblyman Rudy Salas, who represents Kings County, selected the Kings Lions Club as the most deserving from his district, and several members of the local Lions Club met with Salas in Sacramento to receive the honor.

They arrived in Sacramento on June 5 to join with one hundred other nonprofit organizations throughout California to be honored by their state senators and assembly members during a celebration luncheon as part of California Nonprofits Day.

The Kings Lions members also joined Salas in the California State Assembly Chambers for a photo.

The Kings Lions Club is an affiliate of Lions Clubs International, the largest service organization in the world and an association of over 1.4 million members spanning the entire globe. 

Locally, the Kings Lions Club serves its local communities in Kings County. The Kings Lions Club was chartered on October 15, 2013, and is made up of over 40 dedicated members from the Lemoore and Hanford area. The Kings Lions Club is a very active and engaged organization that strives to give back in many different ways, helping youth and senior groups, as well as providing countless working hours to help improve their Community.

The Kings Lions Club is known for its annual Kings Brewfest Fundraiser.  This year’s event is scheduled for June 15 at the Kings Lions Complex in Lemoore.  One hundred percent of every penny raised by the Kings Lions is donated back into the local communities. 

Some of their ongoing projects: Stuff the Bus School Supply Collection Project, Highway Clean up, Movies with Santa/Can Food Drive, West Hills Middle College High School Scholarships, Stratford Easter Egg Hunt, Lions Student Speakers Scholarship, Support of the Kings Lions Complex facilities, Supports numerous local youth and senior citizen programs, California Wildfire Disaster support, provides eye exams, glasses, and eye surgeries, LHS Speech Club, Local youth sports programs.

Kings Lions reported that over $61,000 in total contributions were donated right back into the community and various Lions projects last year.

As Helen Keller once said, “Alone, we can do so little, together we can do so much.”  This phrase is the motto of the Kings Lions Club serves.
