Lady Golden Eagles hoopsters off to solid start; men's team ends long losing streak and improves to 2-7 in second season

The men’s team, under the guidance of co-head coach Phillip Todd, following a winless 2018-19 inaugural season, was 0-7 this season before finally notching its first team win, a 73-65 victory over De Anza College in the Porterville Classic on Nov. 22.
West Hills player Bryce Hernandez was an all-tourney selection for his play in the recent tournament.
The Golden Eagles following that first win up with a 60-54 win over El Camino College on Saturday, Nov. 23, to complete a 2-7 November. The Golden Eagle men’s next game comes on Saturday, Dec. 14, at Victory Valley Community College.
The men’s team currently has co-coaches, Phillips and Donnye Ross.
The women’s team, under the guidance of Andrea Picchi, began its season with a 4-3 start, notching wins over Shasta College and Monterey Peninsula in the opening week.
The Lady Golden Eagles also beat Santa Monica 61-532 on Nov. 16. Their next action comes in the Fresno City College Tournament, which begins Dec. 5. The Eagles will play Folsom Lake at 3 p.m. and on Saturday will face Moorpark at 10 a.m.
