'Reason for the Season' brings gifts and holiday food baskets to 47 Lemoore families this Christmas
The gifts are for 47 families selected by local schools to receive presents and holiday food baskets. The Lemoore Police Department and a welcoming contingent of the department’s Volunteers in Policing organization will be on hand to welcome the families.
Many of the department’s VIPs were on hand Monday morning wrapping hundreds of gifts for the families. Lemoore Christian Aid will provide holiday food baskets.
Just one day later, on Dec. 20, a caravan of Lemoore Police Department vehicles and friends will caravan around Lemoore, delivering gifts and food baskets as part of its annual “Presents on Patrol” from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Last year, “Presents on Patrol” delivered gifts and food baskets to 11 Lemoore families as a large contingent of about 50 volunteers and law enforcement personnel caravanned throughout Lemoore, helping Santa deliver holiday presents and food boxes.
Presents on Patrol has been around since 1998. The expectant families and generally identified by local school officials. Again, the food boxes come from Lemoore Christian Aid.
