Lady Golden Eagles take on the state's top women's basketball team Jan. 3 in Golden Eagle Arena at 5 p.m.

Lemoore’s West Hills College Lemoore women’s basketball team has a big date Jan. 3 with the state’s No. 1 ranked community college basketball team. The 4-8 Lady Golden Eagles will host powerful Ventura College in a 5 p.m. game at the school’s Golden Eagle Arena.

The Golden Eagles are in the midst of a minor losing streak, having lost their last five games in a row. They have a Dec. 28 contest at Long Beach before returning home to face the powerful Ventura College squad, which comes into the game at 12-2 on the season.

The Pirates are obviously gunning for a spot in the state’s community college championship women’s tournament, slated for March 12, 14-15 at the West Hills College Lemoore Golden Eagle Arena. The men’s tourney is slated, also in Lemoore, March 13-15.

West Hills men’s team (2-12), currently on a 5-game losing streak, next action comes on Jan. 8 when it travels to Reedley College for a 7 p.m. game. The Lady Golden Eagles will play at 5 p.m. at Reedley College.
