Lemoore’s varsity boys’ basketball team will likely have to defeat visiting Hanford tomorrow night (Feb. 13) if they want a spot in the Central Section 2 Divisional playoffs. Lemoore is 4-5 heading into Thursday night’s season-ending West Yosemite League game.

They took a step in the right direction with a 57-45 victory Tuesday night at Mt. Whitney

On the other hand, Lemoore’s ladies assured themselves of a playoff spot thanks to an impressive 16-10 overall record and a 7-2 WYL campaign. The Lady Tigers hope to depart the WYL on a high note with a win over the Bullpups, but they’ll have to do it on Hanford’s court Thursday night (Feb. 13).

Unfortunately, the Lady Tigers fell 79-64 to the Bullpups in their Jan. 29 first-round contest. Game time is 7:30 p.m. in the Bullpups gym. However, the Tigers are on a roll, winning their last three games in a row as they prepare for the Division 3 playoffs.

The ladies set up Thursday’s finale by easily defeating visiting Mt. Whitney 68-20. Leading the scoring charge was Amaya Sanchez with 13 points. Nyomi Solis chipped in with 12 points, while Amber Cole and Kyla Wiley tossed in 11 points apiece.

The boys’ game time is 6:30 p.m. in the Lemoore High School Event Center Thursday night.

Lemoore’s boys (8-19, 4-5) beat the Bullpups (12-13, 6-6) in the league’s first round 77-68 in Hanford, and this time around take on the Bullpups on their home court. The Bullpups come into the game sporting a 6-3 WYL record and likely will be seeking a bit of redemption from its first-round loss.

Lemoore gave themselves some breathing room by defeating Mt. Whitney 57-45 Tuesday night in the Pioneers gym. On Jan. 23 the Tigers dropped a disappointing 45-41 game to the visiting Pioneers.

Lemoore’s boys led the Pioneers from the start, taking a 28-22 first half lead and then increased the lead to 45-35 at the end of three before ending with a 12-10 fourth quarter advantage.
