Lady Tigers softball team up and down as tournament play continues. WYL opens March 26
The Tigers will continue tournament play on March 14.
The Tigers opened the 2020 season on somewhat of a down note, dropping a 9-0 game at Tulare Union and losing 14-5 in the Tigers home opener on Feb. 25.
Lemoore opened the Bakersfield Driller Softball Tournament on March 5 with an 11-5 loss to Frontier High School despite a three-run home run off the bat of Susannah Campos.
The Tigers rebounded in the afternoon, crushing Bakersfield High 14-1 as Lemoore poured on the offense. Alexis Alanis and Selina Perez each scored three times for the Tigers. Lemoore scored seven times in the first inning and added four more runs in the second.
Ariana Luna pitched the four-inning game and struck out five.
The Tigers continued their winning ways the following day beating Cesar Chavez High 10-5. Madison Martinez had two RBI to lead the Tigers while Jaylene Olaes picked up the win, pitching three innings, giving up just two hits and two runs.
On March 7 the Tigers crushed Bakersfield 18-1, collecting 14 hits on the day. Jacky Esquer had three hits for the Tigers and three RBI. Madison Martinez was three for four with three RBI.
That same day the Tigers dropped a 3-2 decision to Tulare Union, Lemoore’s second loss to Tulare.
Lemoore begins West Yosemite League play against Redwood High School on March 26 and will return to the annual Fowler Easter Classic Softball Tournament beginning April 4.
