Lemoore City Council adopts local emergency resolution to comply with state, federal mandates

The Lemoore City Council, at its Tuesday night regular meeting (March 17), adopted Resolution 2020-08, declaring a local emergency related to COVID-19. City officials are emphasizing that Tuesday night’s action is not intended to cause alarm, but rather is a move to ensure that the City can comply with state or federal mandates related to the emergency.

Citizens are urged to be mindful of their surroundings, outdoor excursions and abide by national, state, and local recommendations to stay at least six feet away from other persons, wash hands frequently, and avoid touching eyes and faces.

City officials say they will continue monitoring the situation, and any actions will be based on state and federal mandates, as well as recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

At this time, the City is not anticipating any stay-at-home orders, but that may change if it is deemed necessary in the future.

The City of Lemoore is also urging its citizens to view the “15 Days to Slow the Spread” guidance from the White House, which can be found at www.whitehouse.gov.

The CDC also has COVID-19 resources located at www.cdc.gov. The City will issue additional information as it becomes available and can be found on the City’s website at www.lemoore.com.
