Lemoore Elementary District reviews state's guidelines as it prepares for students to return to school Aug. 11

A statewide task force comprised of teachers, state and county health officials, the governor’s office, the Centers for Disease Control, superintendents, and teachers, developed the guidelines, entitled Stronger Together, A Guidebook for the Safe Reopening of California’s Public Schools.
Like most area and California schools, the Lemoore Elementary School District has been shut down since the middle of March.
“We believe the best option for our students is to be in school with our number one priority being the health and safety of our students and staff,” said the district’s superintendent, Cheryl Hunt. “We are focusing our efforts on the health and safety components to bring our students back safety.”
Hunt said Lemoore Elementary School District students are planning to return to school on August 11, and that the district has been working for over a month, joining forces with the Kings County Office of Education, local area superintendents and the Kings County Department of Public Health to ensure a safe return.
Hunt said in an email to The Leader that the district survey families and the district’s staff. “The feedback is critical in our decision-making process,” she said. “Just as we experienced during the school closure, the reopening efforts remain dynamic and fluid.”
Hunt added that the district would communicate with families regarding district updates. Efforts to inform the district’s families will be through its website and the district’s phone messaging system.
