Lemoore police officers chase reckless driver reaching speeds of 110 mph

Lemoore Police Officers on Monday (May 17) at about 9 a.m. were in the area of North Lemoore Avenue and Glendale Avenue assisting with a traffic collision that had just occurred. Officers noticed a vehicle approaching the collision area at a high rate of speed that appeared to endanger the safety of all parties on the scene.

An officer attempted to get the vehicle to slow down, and the vehicle accelerated and sped past the collision area. 

Another officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the reckless vehicle, and the driver failed to yield. A vehicle pursuit ensued westbound on county roads reaching speeds of 110 mph. Lemoore police requested assistance from the Kings County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers also notified the Lemoore Naval Air Station Police Department of the pursuit and its direction of travel. The pursuit reached the area of Reeves Blvd. north of SR-198. The driver drove off of the road into a dirt field and collided with a dirt embankment, disabling the vehicle.

Police identified the driver as 39-year-old Tara Hofacker. Police officers took the suspect into custody without further incident.

Hofacker was arrested and booked into the Kings County Jail for the violations of VC 2800.2(a) (Felony Evading), VC 2800.4 (Felony Evading; Wrong Way driving), VC 23103(a) (Reckless Driving), VC 12500(a) (Unlicensed Driver), PC 148(a)(1) (Delaying/Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer), and an unrelated misdemeanor warrant out of Kings County. Bail was set at $95,000. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
