It was certainly a year to remember for several hundred Lemoore High School seniors who received their high school diplomas Thursday night in the school's Tiger Stadium. Family members cheered as this year's class paraded into Tiger Stadium, as they have done for many decades, and they weren't about to let a pandemic ruin what, for many, is one of the highlights of their young lives.
As was the tradition in many past school graduations, Naval Air Station Lemoore sent a pair of F-35 fighter jets to greet the new grads. Grads also passed by the traditional Elks flag, and Thursday night strode past the Lemoore Fire Department's American Flag.
And of course, as per the custom, after receiving their diplomas, the graduates and audience were treated to a fireworks show at the ceremony's conclusion. And of course, due to COVID-19 restrictions, only four tickets per graduate were allowed leaving Tiger Stadium about half-filled.
Many students remained on campus for the school's traditional Sober Grad event that began at 10 p.m. and was normally held in the school's Event Center. Sober Grad was expected to end around 6 a.m.
