About 350 persons showed up for the 26th Annual Lemoore Greater Kings County Chamber of Commerce Jack Stone-Kings County Salute to Agriculture Banquet, normally held in September. After some socializing and hors d’oeuvres, and then dinner, the program began.
The local chamber Friday night honored local farming giant Steve Walker as this year’s Agriculturist of the Year and the Kings County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, which has a Rural Crime Task Force, credited with many solved crimes during its existence.
The late Jack Stone was the first recipient of the local chamber’s agricultural award. The first series of awards was held at Jack Stone’s Barn in Lemoore.
The awards this year were held in the Lemoore Recreation Center, where the audience had dinner as Lemoore High School Future Farmers of America helped out.
