Lemoore’s top female wrestler, Mia Meno, a Tiger senior, made her first appearance at the annual Reno Tournament of Championships – where the tourney hosted girls for the first time – and managed to pin her way to the finals with three straight victories before dropping her final match.

In the same meet, two other Tiger wrestlers came one match short of a tourney championship. Sophomore Jason McDonald went 5-2 in the tourney while fellow Tiger Isaiah Morales was 4-2 in the prestigious tournament.

On December 23, Lemoore hosted the annual Dennis DeLiddo Invitational and did quite well, placing third among 40 teams that attended the event in the school’s event center.

The Tigers had five wrestlers place in the tourney, including four who made the finals. For starters, Jason McDonald, at 106 pounds, went 4-0 in the tourney, scoring an impressive 40 points in his first three matches.

His brother, Dylan McDonald, at 120 pounds, was 4-0, pinning all his opponents and garnering the top spot.

Heavyweight Morales, at 285 pounds, also took the top spot, pinning his opponents.

Other wrestlers who fared well included Sebastian Macedo, at 132 pounds, winning three of four matches, only to come up short in the finals, while Trevor Duncan, 152, was 4-1 and placed fifth overall.

Manuel Cunha, 182, was 2-2 in the tourney, and Adrian Hurd at 126 pounds.

The invited coaches voted Jason and Dylan McDonald co-Most Outstanding lightweight wrestlers.
