Patrolling Kings County deputy makes stop, finds suspect with drugs

A Kings County deputy sheriff, patrolling the area of Hanford’s Lacey Blvd and 10th Avenue on Monday, February 8 at about 12:30 a.m., noticed a white Toyota Camry with what appeared to be a mechanical violation. The deputy decided to stop the Toyota.

The deputy, after contacting the driver and suspect, John Spencer, and his female passenger, noticed a glass smoking (Meth) pipe in the center console of the car. According to his report, the deputy walked away for a moment and the suspects, he reported, hid the glass pipe.

The deputy completed a vehicle search and located the glass pipe along with three packages that contained a white substance that he thought may have been consistent with Methamphetamine.

The suspect, Spencer, claimed the Methamphetamine and pipe belonged to him. The deputy placed the suspect into custody and the female was allowed to leave.

Two of the packages tested positive for Methamphetamine and weighed a combined total of over 54 grams. The third package tested positive for the dangerous drug Fentanyl and weighed 12 grams. According to the deputy’s report, over two thousand dollars in cash was also discovered on the suspect.

The deputy booked the suspect, Spencer, into the Kings County Jail on various charges, including possession of a controlled substance, Methamphetamine, and Fentanyl, possession of a controlled substance for sales, and possession of drug paraphernalia. the suspect's bail was set at $30,000 and he was released.
