Lemoore High FFA sophomore and her lamb wins first prize at Kings Fair competition
The local fair, held at the Kings County Fairgrounds, was held from June 9 thru June 12, and one of its annual events is, of course, its FFA livestock competition. Following the competition, Jordan, who is in a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy, was wheeled around the show arena and surrounded by her fans and friends.
The Kings Fair, on an annual basis, has an extensive FFA presence. Lemoore High School also has its own farm and a significant FFA chapter.
A friend initially encouraged a young Brooke to get involved with the FFA,” said Lindsay Jordan, Brooke’s mother, a registered nurse at Adventist Hospital. Her father is Todd Jordon. The family friend, Matt Martin, encouraged Brooke to get involved with FFA. “We live in town. A friend (Martin) encouraged Brooke to get into the FFA. He has a little bit of land, and he encouraged her.”
Brooke has a 10-year-old sister Ava, who no doubt has her eyes set on joining the FFA as soon as she reaches high school. Ava also has cerebral palsy.
Meantime Brooke excels in high school, earning a 4.0 GPA in her first year. “Brooke is a hard worker, said mom Lindsay. And she loves FFA, said the proud mom. “She started her freshman year. She’s done it now for two years in a row. She’s shown a lamb both times.”
While mom and dad aren’t quite sure what she wants to do with her life, they are confident whatever it is, she will do it well. “She’s a hard worker. She’s competitive,” said Jordan. “She is so friendly and loves everybody. She’ll make conversation with anybody.”
