Tigers show off offensive might for second week in a row as LHS outlasts Washington Union; Clovis West here Friday

The Tigers will get yet another test when they host 2-0 Clovis West in a 7:30 p.m. game in Tiger Stadium on Friday night. It will be Lemoore’s first home contest.

In Friday night’s game at Washington Union, Lemoore dominated the Panthers, putting together a 28-point second quarter and three touchdowns in the fourth to easily outdistance their hosts.

The Panthers tried to keep it close in the first half, scoring 19 points to Lemoore’s 35 total points. The Tigers scored the lone touchdown in the first quarter to go along with their big second-quarter totals.

Lemoore scored first in the opening frame when quarterback Ty Chambers tossed a 28-yard touchdown pass to Kobe Green. With Jayden Evangelo’s PAT, the Tigers took the early lead 7-0.

The Tigers made it 28-7 – still in the second quarter – on a touchdown pass, and Washington Union scored again with about three minutes remaining in the first half cut to Lemoore’s lead to 28-13.

But the Tigers were far from finished. With about two minutes remaining in the first half, Chambers connected with receiver Preston Scott for a 45-yard touchdown and a 35-13 lead. The Panthers cut the gap to 35-19 on a rushing touchdown just moments later. The two-point conversion failed, and Lemoore went into the second half with a 35-19 lead.

With about three minutes to go in the third quarter, the Panthers scored a two-yard rushing touchdown to cut the gap to 35-27 following a successful two-point conversion.

In the fourth period, Lemoore’s Chambers tossed a 44-yard touchdown pass to Demel Turner to put Lemoore up 42-27 with the PAT.

The Panthers, despite Lemoore’s offensive prowess, refused to concede to their visitors and cut the gap to 42-35 with a 29-yard TD pass from Washington’s Marquese Glynn to Karlos Grier. Glynn rushed for the two-point conversion.

But the Tigers weren’t finished yet. With about four minutes left in the game, Chambers completed a 70-yard pass play to Demel Turner for a touchdown and a 49-35 advantage.

With just two minutes to go, the Tigers struck again, this time on a Kobe Green interception and a 76-yard return, putting his Tigers up 56-35.
