Coach Rich Tuman wasn’t about to let last week’s disappointing loss to powerful Clovis West, a home game the Tigers dropped 40-14, get his team down. Instead, the coach and his players returned to their winning ways, improving to 3-1 on the season and reviving its impressive offensive arsenal while outscoring Sanger (on its home field) 42-18.

The Tigers take the next week off before hosting South High from Bakersfield on Friday, Sept. 23. On Sept. 30, Lemoore hosts Tulare Union in Tiger Stadium.

In Friday night’s impressive win, the host Apaches scored on their first possession when quarterback Bryson Baker tossed a three-yard touchdown to Jacob Gonzales for the game’s first touchdown and a 6-0 lead, the last points Sanger would score until the fourth quarter.

The Tigers didn’t score until early in the second period when quarterback Ty Chambers connected with Demel Turner on a 13-yard TD pass. Jayden Evangelo provided the extra point, and the Tigers were up and running 7-6.

Later, still in the first half, the Tigers went up 14-6 on another Chambers four-yard touchdown pass to Turner.

In the third period, with about 5 minutes left in the quarter, Chambers and Turner made it a trifecta when the Tiger QB once again found his favorite receiver on a 48-yard pass play and a 21-6 lead.

The two Tigers were on a roll. They upped the lead to 28-6  on a 73-yard pass play that threatened to put a damper on Sanger’s chances of a comeback.

Chambers scored on a 13-yard run in the fourth quarter with about nine minutes left to give the Tigers a 35-6 advantage.

Andrew Moench finished off Lemoore’s offensive effort with an eight-yard TD  with under a minute left in the game.

Sanger scored twice in the fourth period, but it wasn’t enough as the Tigers ran away with a 42-18 win to improve to 3-1 on the season.
