Lemoore High School’s varsity girls’ 7th-ranked basketball team survived the first round of the playoffs Tuesday night, outlasting a persistent Morro Bay team in the Tigers’ Event Center. Next up for the Tigers is Porterville where the Tigers take on the Panthers (16-12) in the Division III second round.

Lemoore defeated Morro Bay 50-43 in the first round of the CIF Central Section playoffs. Lemoore took a comfortable lead in the first quarter and still led by halftime. However, Morro Bay managed to close the gap and tie the Tigers going into the final quarter.

The Tigers finally extended their lead with a run in the final minutes.

Lemoore’s Jezzamay Tamayo led the Tigers with 15 points while Jaelyn Proby contributed 13 points to the playoff win.

The Tigers hit the road to take on the No. 2 ranked Panthers who defeated Hanford West 55-42 in the Division III playoffs' first round.
