For the second straight year, Lemoore’s varsity football team lost to a potent Clovis West team. Still, this time around, the loss was bittersweet as Lemoore, trailing 21-20 with about four minutes remaining in the game, watched their hopes buoyed when Kobe Green took the Clovis kickoff and promptly ran it back for an 85-yard touchdown, giving the Tigers a tenuous 26-21 advantage with about four minutes left in the game.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, Clovis West’s Lonnie Franks, with just 24 seconds left in the game, scored from just a yard out following the last-minute, fourth-quarter drive.

The Golden Eagles came into the game ranked fourth in their division. The Tigers came in ranked No. 7 overall.

The Tigers certainly didn’t feel humbled by the potent Clovis West squad despite Clovis West returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead.

Lemoore, 2-1 on the season, hopes to resume its winning ways on Friday when the Tigers host Sanger High School in Tigers Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
